At a difficult time in the history of Focus on the Family, the ministry searched the budget for any expense it could eliminate. Despite this financially difficult time, Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family committed to not sparing the expense of bringing their group on their annual Summit Adventure course. For over four decades, Focus on the Family has brought dads and their children to spend four intentional days together. Many of these men return year after year with each of their children. Helping families create a legacy for their children is something that both Focus on the Family and Summit Adventure greatly value.
Over the course of four days, dads camp, hike, swim, climb, rappel and “just be” with their son or daughter. Given the busyness of today’s fast-paced world, we often hear that this time is a “key time” in the relationship between father and child. Besides great memories of the adventure, father and child return home with many practical tools for continuing to strengthen their relationship and the commitments they’ve made to each other.
